here's what we all look like!

  steve
Steve is the Local Operations Manager for Doncaster PSB and came to us from Peterborough a while ago (something about cheap houses and a full pint of Stella!). When Steve isn't ordering new stuff for the signalbox, he can be found in a dark room listening to our voice tapes and spending time with his family.

  God adrian
Adrian is a fountain of knowledge (or just a fountain when he's been drinking gallons of the box tea!) and is one of our Shift Managers and sometimes covers the LOM positions as well (try finding that in the Kama Sutra!). Away from work he loves to polish his Megané ... take that as you will!

  reg
Reg is our horse racing king by a furlong, with George in second place! Reg is one of the Shift Managers at Doncaster and this will come as no surprise that he enjoys horse racing. When he's not saddled down with the Leger meeting, Reg can be found ... well watching At The Races!

  Little Paul little paul
Little Paul is also one of the Shift Managers at Doncaster. Paul can usually be found commuting between Doncaster and Crowle doing a Sudoku! When he's not doing that, the chances are he'll be over on the Isle of Man with them funny cats with no tails!

  Big lad big paul
And here's another Paul and like Paul he's also one of the Shift Managers. Now Paul has an appreciation for trains, in fact it's probably fair to say he has appreciation for all forms of transport but his favourite has to be the ones that go up in the air and land in the Canaries!

  Charlie marthew
Our Matt is the newest one to enter the bosom of the Shift Manager grade. You may have seen Matt before with Roy Castle when he broke the world speed record between Retford and Doncaster. In between doing 200mph, he sometimes spins off towards the wine section at his nearest Asda, fortunately not doing a Richard Madeley!

  Spewie / Apu ian
Alan Sugar's deputy Ian is the box entrepreneur and keeps all the ones who like pop and crisps very happy! As owner of the signalbox tuck shop, Ian enjoys watching Scunthorpe United but bizarrely in an Arsenal shirt ... yep we've asked Jeeves for an answer too!

  neil
Neil recently celebrated 25 years on the railway, which explains his lack of hair! Away from work, Neil enjoys spending quality time with his other half visiting places around the country as well as out of it too. Oh and he's one you definitely want on your team in a pub quiz!

  Bad boy steve
Steve likes many things, but the top two are trains and cricket - or in winter, just trains! Steve can usually be found in some remote locations, so if you ever see a car parked precariously near the railway, chances are it will be Steve's! Have a look at his pics here!

  Sidevalve marc
Marc has been with us a while and always enjoys spending time with us, so much so you will always see him working rest days and 12 hours! When Marc isn't working all the hours God sends, he likes to play a bit of golf, but I'm sure he'll remember to take suncream this year!

  jimmy
Jimmy is a leg end it says here ... oh sorry, legend! He always has many a story to tell us in the box. Our Scotsman has worked many boxes (scarily most have closed!) but finds himself settled at Doncaster where he has been for many years.

  (c) Fitness First colin
Colin came from Sheffield PSB a few years ago before settling with the big lads at Doncaster. Colin enjoys going on holidays but isn't that keen on Morris Dancers. Colin brings many years of railway experience with him as well as a fully paid gym card and often brings in his rod - fishing rod that is!

  Hamster hamster
Steve, or Hamster as we call him, is one of the new smoothie recruits, much to the disappointment of the local sarnie shops! Apart from eating squashed fruits, he also enjoys being on his motorbike and having a good time and forms a vital part of the box days out.

  Runt brian
Brian is, unfortunately, a southerner, but as we are a forgiving lot in this part of the world we don't hold this against him! Brian has a wealth of knowledge of the railway we look after and is always on hand with a solution to an operating problem we may have.

.
    Billy     Pete
Our Lincolnshire lad Pete is another chap with dollops of railway experience, and brings this to work with him every day (along with his "special tea bags"!) Biker Pete loves his two wheels, although not as much after a twelve hour shift facing a force nine gale all the way home ...

.   .     . . . . . . .   .
        Rob W
And our second southerner is Rob! Again, Rob is another one with many years service, and the very rare occasion that Rob doesn't grace us with his company, he enjoys watching the planes near his house going in and out of Doncaster Airport. Lucky bugger!

.   .     . . . . . . .   .
        Emma
Emma is the first lady of Doncaster signalbox and came from the dark side ... Lincolnshire! Emma has moved over to the Grade 8 side now which means we've lost the step she used to use to get to the top of the panel! Emma can usually be found in the Frenchgate Centre!

.   .     . . . . . . .   .
    Chill     Chill
Chris, or Chill as he's better known, recently made a hit on the property ladder and is from the right side of Conisbrough Tunnel! Chris also enjoys watching Doncaster Rovers do their thing, although we're not actually sure what that is ...

.   .     . . . . . . .   .
        Kev
Kev enjoys the odd game of golf and recently set up a golf tournament for us and the nearby boxes. If you would like the opportunity to play with Kev .... er, use the contact us link and we'll pass it on. He can't wait to hear from you!

.   .     . . . . . . .   .
    Biffo     Martin C
Martin has a wealth of signalling experience and is part of the furniture at Doncaster (must be the beard!) Some of you may recognise the David Blunkett stunt double from the BBC Television Railwatch programme back in 1989, although the majority of the shots were of the back of his head!

.   .     . . . . . . .   .
    Hello!     Eric
Eric is another long server (no I don't mean he's into tennis or anything!) Eric came to us from Sheffield PSB many years ago. When Eric isn't with us, he enjoys spending his day off with his family and making use of his train passes.

.   .     . . . . . . .   .
    George / Snoop     George
Geoff (but we call him George) is the biggest Sheffield United supporter in the box! When Geoff is not at his panel, he enjoys trips down to the South West, but Geoff is clever, as he always picks trains with a nice stopover at New Street for a crafty cig. Clever George!

.   .     . . . . . . .   .
        Simon S
Big Simon (he's one of three!) has come to us from Wrawby Junction. Outside of work, Simon enjoys spending time with his family, and thankfully sending this website amusing emails with his razor sharp wit! Good on ya!

.   .     . . . . . . .   .
    Flamboyant     Gareth
Gareth is a TOC bitch, coming from Regional Railways and GNER. When the Barnsley supporter isn't at work, he spends his time shared between listening to Galaxy, having his hair done, having a facial, on a sunbed, waxing, shopping at Meadowhall and having manicures ... maybe not the last bit, we hope!

.   .     . . . . . . .   .
        Kirston
Kirston came to us from Earles Sidings on the Hope Valley before settling for some work with us. Hailing from Chapeltown, Kirston is our very own trainee John Prescott as he has two Jags! Whether his sex life mirrors that of John Prescott has neither been discovered nor asked!

.   .     . . . . . . .   .
    Sniffer     Chris
Chris used to be a signalman at the many gateboxes on the route, but decided to join in the fun with us a couple of years ago. Chris loves going on holiday and discovering new places and it has to be said he is the most laid back and coolest fella we know!

.   .     . . . . . . .   .
        Simon W
Slim is a West Yorkshire lad and loves nothing more than a KFC! Apart from keeping the Colonel Sanders remembrance fund well alive, Simon loves attending festivals and watching live bands - that's the proper type, not the old biddy ones!

.   .     . . . . . . .   .
        Darren
Darren came to us from Kiveton and is a keen golfer, so as you can imagine gets on very well with Kev! When he's not grafting with us lot, Darren enjoys spending time with his family and polishing his nine iron ... whatever that means!

.   .     . . . . . . .   .
    Bunny     Vinny
Vinny is the reason they have banned blue smarties! Vinny comes from Retford and his missus has recently given birth to a little girl. Vinny came to us from Maltby signalbox and provides us all with entertainment from the minute he walks in, especially if he wears his shorts!

.   .     . . . . . . .   .
    Ray     Martin H
Martin is still the proud owner of a new three-piece suite and nobody is happier than him! Martin is happy changing nappies, as all that practicing with his missus has finally filled a pram! He's now coping with another load of trouble ... the Grade 8 panels!

.   .     . . . . . . .   .
        Simon J
Middle Simon came to us from Ferrybridge and is a proud supporter of some red team in Manchester! When he's not cursing Chelsea, Simon likes to drive his Subaru (lucky bugger!) and spend time with his family, but not as happy when his missus gets near the car!

.   .     . . . . . . .   .
        Andy
Andy is well travelled. I don't mean he's been all around the world, he comes in from Barton-on-Humber. When Andy doesn't come to Doncaster to use our electricity and running water, he also enjoys his home life ... that is when he gets there!

.   .     . . . . . . .   .
        Paul H
Just when we'd got used to having just two Paul's in the box we've managed to get it back to three! Paul is our newest recruitment to the happy signalbox, and brings with him a number of years' worth of railway experience. Good on him!

.   .     . . . . . . .   .
        Rob
Rob is our newest recruit and also a back up for George, being a Sheffield United fan! Now living in Penistone, Rob has joined us from the Hope Valley and is our newest Grade 6 where he has gained the nickname Dulux ... watching paint dry ... I'll get me coat ...
